We are looking for a RTNS Implementation Manager, this role manages the design and implementation of nature-based solutions in Madagascar in collaboration with local partners. The role will ensure fair and equitable community involvement and benefit sharing and ultimately deliver regenerative micro-economies for sustained positive outcomes beyond project life. THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO BE BASED IN-COUNTRY TO DRIVE THE IMPLEMENTATION OF LARGE-SCALE (>80,000HA OF POTENTIAL PROJECTS CURRENTLY UNDER ASSESSMENT AND EARLY PILOTING IN MADAGASCAR), HIGH-IMPACT NATURE-BASED SOLUTIONS PROJECTS DESIGNED TO HAVE LONG-TERM POSITIVE OUTCOMES FOR PEOPLE AND NATURE AS WELL AS DELIVERING HIGH INTEGRITY CARBON CREDITS. REPORTING TO THE CHIEF ADVISOR: NATURE SOLUTIONS WITH A DOTTED LINE REPORT TO THE MD: QIT MADAGASCAR MINERALS, YOU WILL BE: Ensure that local communities are meaningfully engaged and involved as project custodians, owners and implementers through a process of codesign and collaborative problem solving and development. Identify and implement quick-wins that address challenges faced by communities but also support broader project objectives (e.g., cookstoves, natural fertilizer for soil). Support existing feasibility and trial site work, integrate these as needed into broader program. Apply adaptive management practices to adjust and scale successful trial or pilot projects Ensure that positive outcomes for people and nature are balanced and do not come at a cost to one or the other, recognizing the link between peoples livelihoods, wellbeing and the stewardship of biodiversity, water, and soil. Ensure integrated approach to projects with QIT Madagascar Minerals social investment and communities and social performance and stakeholder engagement teams as well as NGO, community partners, Ensure high-integrity requirements are well understood and consistently implemented for example, application of international best practice relating to Human Rights and social safeguards and ecological safeguards, and Rio Tinto Standards, policies and commitments. Work with an innovative and unconstrained mindset that constantly seeks solutions to deliver greater and faster impact without compromising on project quality/integrity Collaborate effectively with the central Nature Solutions team to ensure alignment with broader program, rapid learning and knowledge management Develop and maintain relations with asset and project development teams, leadership to ensure alignment, integration with asset programs, and effective collaboration. Maintain project dashboard to ensure progress is made against identified metrics for social, nature and carbon gains. Provide data and information to central team in a timely manner to track progress and ensure gains are accurately tracked and are aligned with internationally accepted frameworks. Conduct local stakeholder mapping and analysis to identify and reach out to potential partners to secure high-integrity delivery, capacity development and knowledge-sharing between partners Work with regional leads to identify NbS implementation knowledge gaps and capacity building opportunities for local government, host communities and implementation partners. Support capacity building through direct mentorship and identifying other relevant learning opportunities. Assist the Engagement Partner in developing appropriate support materials and maintaining these. Incorporate and support any biodiversity credit trials at project sites should these opportunities arise. What youll bring A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team Extensive and in-field experience in working with communities in design and development of community-driven agricultural and conservation projects that address local challenges, particularly in non-OECD regions, especially Madagascar Delivery mindset and collaborative approach with strong project management skills Specific background with REDD and programs beneficial Track record of delivery of community-driven agricultural or conservation projects in non-OECD countries English and French proficiency across all communication mediums essential Experience managing and reporting on significant budgets Engaging leader with high EQ and experience working in multiple regions, especially in a rural context Exposure to the carbon market and mechanisms highly beneficial About Rio Tinto Rio Tinto is a leading global mining and materials company.
